Logistics Alliance & The Canada Grocery Code of Conduct
Driving Transparency, Fairness, & Collaboration Across Canada’s Retail Supply Chain
Logistics Alliance Position
As a fourth-party logistics (4PL) partner working directly between suppliers and retailers, Logistics Alliance occupies a unique space in Canada’s grocery supply chain.
We are not a signatory to the Code, but we are an active enabler of its principles, fostering the transparency, collaboration, and reciprocal trust that the Canada Grocery Code of Conduct is built upon.
Through our people, processes, and connected logistics platform, Altruos, we help reduce the friction and financial disputes that the Canada Grocery Code aims to eliminate, ensuring every shipment moves efficiently, fairly, and in compliance with both retailer expectations and supplier agreements.
Our Commitment to Both Sides
We understand the balance required in supporting both suppliers and retailers.
Our mission is not to assign fault, it’s to strengthen trust and efficiency across the supply chain by creating systems and practices that align with The Code’s intent
“Good faith, reasonable notice, effective communication, and mutual accountability.”
By acting as a bridge — not a barrier — we make compliance simpler, collaboration stronger, and outcomes fairer for everyone involved.
Our Pillars of Support
Together, these pillars reflect our role as a partner in operationalizing the Grocery Code of Conduct, helping suppliers and retailers work better together through transparency, efficiency, and shared success.
Our Role in Supporting the Code
We align with and actively promote the objectives outlined in the Canada Grocery Code’s Objectives & Principles, helping our partners live out its values through everyday operational excellence.
Supporting Fair Practices & Fine Prevention
While we do not assume responsibility for retailer-imposed fines — as these often extend beyond the scope of transportation services — we take a proactive approach to helping minimize them. Our team monitors carrier performance, appointment compliance, and retailer reporting systems to identify potential issues early and promote on-time, compliant deliveries.
When fines do occur, we provide detailed visibility, documentation, and data-driven insights to support fair resolution discussions between trading partners. Under the Grocery Code framework, our goal is to foster constructive communication that encourages understanding and collaboration on both sides.
This transparent, solutions-focused approach helps protect our customers’ interests while promoting shared accountability and smoother supply chain performance for everyone involved.
